Settings

Open the Settings by clicking the gear icon in the top-right corner of MoBro.
The settings are grouped into three areas:

Use the Search settings field at the top left to jump directly to a specific option.

My Account​

When you open the settings, My Account is selected by default. Here you can:

  • Log in using your ModBros account.
  • Check your current tier.
  • Compare the available tiers and connect Patreon to upgrade.

General​

Start Options

  • Start MoBro when Windows starts: MoBro launches automatically after you log in, so your dashboards come back on their own.
  • Start app minimized: MoBro starts in the system tray instead of opening its window.
  • Start without the splash screen: Skips the loading screen while MoBro starts up in the background.

Advanced

  • Disable hardware acceleration: Turn this on if dashboards flicker or the app renders incorrectly.

Debug

  • Create debug zip: Generates a .zip file with log files and other information we need to investigate issues. It is saved to your Downloads folder. See Getting Help for how to share it with us.

Dashboards​

  • Update Frequency: How often dashboards fetch new values. More frequent updates may increase the CPU load on the device displaying the dashboard.
  • Timezone: Used to render dates and times on your dashboards.
  • Clear cache: If widgets are not rendering, this clears the dashboard compile cache. MoBro rebuilds every dashboard the next time it is opened.

Network​

PC Network Name

The PC network name identifies this PC to your external dashboards. The default is mobro.

The pre-configured Raspberry Pi image and the ModBros Android app use this name to find the right PC when more than one PC on the same network is running MoBro. If you rename it, update the network name on those devices as well. Renaming does not disconnect devices that are already connected.

tip

If you only run MoBro on a single PC, leave the network name at mobro.

Status

Shows whether the Dashboard Server and the Plugin Service are running, and which port the Dashboard Server listens on (42169 by default). If a device cannot connect, see External device can't connect.

Update​

Shows the installed MoBro version, lets you check for updates manually, and lists the changelog of all releases.
Enable Show pre-releases to also see and install pre-release versions.

Services Overview​

MoBro relies on several background services. This page shows their status and lets you start, stop or restart them.

  • Dashboard Server: Dashboards connect to this service to receive data and communicate with MoBro. If it is not running, dashboards will not work and external dashboards cannot find MoBro on the network.
  • Dashboard Server (compatibility): Allows external dashboards built for older MoBro versions to connect, including the pre-configured Raspberry Pi image.
  • MoBro Plugin Service: Manages and runs the installed plugins and collects all metrics. If it is not running, dashboards will not receive any data.
  • MoBro User-Plugin Runner: Runs plugins that need access to the current user session.

Stopping a service stops the part of MoBro it is responsible for. Only use these controls when troubleshooting.

Plugin Service​

These settings apply to the MoBro Plugin Service.

  • Background Monitoring: Keeps plugins running and collecting metrics even when the MoBro application is not open.
  • Metric History Retention (h): How many hours of metric history are kept.
  • Metric History Write Interval (s): How often metric history is written.
