External Device Can't Connect

If a Raspberry Pi, phone, tablet or browser on another device cannot connect to MoBro, work through the following steps in order.

MoBro uses these TCP ports for external dashboards:

Port	Used by
42169	Dashboard Server: browser dashboards (the port is shown under Settings → Network).
42100	Dashboard Server (compatibility): the pre-configured Raspberry Pi image and older external dashboards.

1. Check the Basics

• MoBro is running on the PC. In MoBro, open Settings → Network and check that the Dashboard Server and Plugin Service are shown as Running.
• Both devices are on the same network. Guest networks are usually isolated from other devices. Some routers also separate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, or use a separate network for mesh access points.
• The network name matches. The Raspberry Pi image and the ModBros Android app find your PC via its PC Network Name (default mobro). It must be the same on the device and in Settings → Network.
• The URL is correct (browser only). It must start with http:// and use the IP address of your PC, e.g. http://192.168.1.42:42169?uuid=phone&name=Phone. See Any device with a browser.

2. Set Your Network to Private

Windows blocks incoming connections on networks marked as Public.

1. Open the Windows Settings → Network & Internet.
2. Select your connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
3. Set Network profile type to Private network.

3. Allow MoBro Through the Windows Firewall

1. Open the Windows Search Bar and type "Allow an app through Windows Firewall".
2. Click Change settings, then Allow another app... and Browse....
3. Select the MoBro executable:
   C:\Users\[YOUR_USER]\AppData\Local\Programs\mobro\MoBro.exe
   (AppData is a hidden folder. You can paste the path into the file dialog's address bar.)
4. Click Add and make sure the checkbox for Private networks is ticked for the new entry.
5. Click OK and restart MoBro.

4. Check Other Software

• Third-party security software (e.g. Bitdefender, ESET, Norton, Kaspersky, Avast) often comes with its own firewall. Add the same MoBro executable as an exception there as well.
• VPN clients on the PC or on the device usually block access to the local network. Disconnect the VPN and try again.
• Router settings: Some routers have "AP isolation" or "client isolation" enabled for Wi-Fi, which prevents devices from talking to each other. Disable it in your router settings.

5. Different Subnets

If your PC and the device are in different subnets (e.g. 192.168.1.x and 192.168.2.x), automatic discovery via the network name does not work.

• For the Raspberry Pi image, use the Static IP option in the setup wizard and enter the IP address of your PC.
• For browsers, use the IP address of the PC in the URL.
• Make sure your router allows traffic between the subnets on the ports listed above.
